COMPETE Mentoring
STEMatch COMPETE provides low-income community college students enrolled in tech programs with the additional work skills training, professional mentoring, and paid internships they need to qualify for - and succeed in - entry-level tech jobs.
COMPETE’s early-career mentoring is an important element of the program, helping students build the kind of “professional capital” critical to starting and building a career in tech.
For COMPETE mentors, a commitment of just a couple of hours each month can have a huge, positive impact on students!
As a COMPETE mentor, you will:
Meet (virtually) with your student for 1-2 hours per month from early February through early June.
Review your mentee’s resume
Conduct some mock interviewing to help your student build and refine their interview skills
Offer insights into what the professional work environment is like - and how to succeed in it.
